Carcosa - Cry For Your Loss [demo] (04/2007)
| Reviews - 2007 |

To put it straight: Carcosa is one of the most underestimated international Metal bands I've ever been listening to. Was "Another Second" (2005) already a killer with three real killer songs ("Trust", "Vol.2", and "Fox"), then this lately released 3-track demo is a masterpiece. Simple, but true.
Carcosa's main strenght is without any doubt female vocalist Kaisu. For all those Angela Gossow fans out there, give Kaisu a listen, she's the man. I'm totally sure that this woman sings with some balls in her hands while recording her vocals. What she does in roaring, shouting and growling is truly phenomenal. Compared to "Another Second" she made immense developments. Her voice kills, I mean it. Also bandwise improvements can be found. The new aggression suits very well, also the words "heavy" and "technical" have increased. The songs are all in all more compact, crunchy and completely rounded. The rigorousness is definitely a big plus! At a very first glance the threesome might lack the catchiness, but after two listenings this impression is nothing more than a wasted thought. Already the first song "Already a Wreck" turns out to be the smasher and with the flute-part played by Kaisu she shows that she's not only great but also versatile.
If you have enough of angelic, shallow "Eva"- voices then here you found the right fellow. For me Carcosa and especially Kaisu have always been an inspiration, if not even a role model. Keep an eye on that band. They show the direction.
