Frontlines - Demo II [demo] (10/2009)
| Reviews - 2009 |
Mostly it’s like this: known, successful acts release a new album and a few months before and after they are on everybody’s lips, giving us the usual album talk and yet again another version of their gnawed off band history. Even though it has been heard a hundred times, they still keep on talking. Shouldn’t it be rather the other way round, less talking for the signed acts, more for the demo bands?
Nevertheless, Frontlines from Oulu just skip the big words and get straight to the point with their second demo, simply entitled as "Demo II". Frontlines present four Old School minted Metal tracks, which are pure groove de luxe. Already after two spinnings you’re nodding your head to the beat; the catchy riffs easily take you along, but still don’t lack the thrust. Finally again a demo that knows to entertain, one you can listen to with honest joy instead of forced enduring. The band’s greatest strength lies definitely in vocalist Simo Järvinen’s vocal performance. He’s so cool, he almost makes Frontlines sound like a Thrash version of Volbeat. "Wrath of Man" marks the band’s best song so far and leaves nothing to desire. Or as expressively purred by Järvinen: "Ain’t no goddamn motherfucking fear left in me!" Yeah!
Way to go!
