Say what you want about music needing a certain amount of time to fully open up and show its entire beauty, bullshit I say, at least when it comes to Mekanism and their first release "Cicatrized". I have no idea from where this band popped up so suddenly, but one thing is for sure already now: this shit is dope!
Already when the first riffs of “Cursed To Avenge” open the three-piece EP, the sound kicks you out from your everyday numbness. The melodies, the singing, the screaming, the riffing, the production – everything is top-notch! Mekanism present a fresh, yet known American Metal style à la Killswitch Engage, Slipknot etc. that is so captivating that I’m actually running out of words (and that hardly happens). Every tune knows to thrill, and “Death Is The Bottom” and ”Cicatrized” are equally catchy tracks as the opener. "Cicatrized" is both for fans of harder tunes as well for those that prefer melodic choruses.
This package works like Koskenkorva, nuff said. If Mekanism didn’t end up with a record deal every second, then I’d sign them myself. After the known “same old same old” this Finnish band presents something truly spicy, original and promising; their appearance was simply long overdue!
I love the days when music is so surprising and captivating, that everything else around you becomes meaningless, time stands still and you can’t stop listening. This is what Mekanism achieved with only their first demo, others are waiting years for this to happen. Thumbs up, this is only the beginning!
